Description:

Responsible for providing patient-oriented service in a front office setting; performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties related to the delivery of patient care, including greeting and checking in patients, answering phones, collecting patient co-pays, processing paperwork, and performing other front office duties as required in a fast-paced, customer-oriented clinical environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned with or without prior notice

  • Greet/Check-in patients,
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Update patient demographics
  • Be responsible for gathering all necessary information required for the registration of new patients and for the updating of existing accounts: personal, demographic, financial and insurance
  • Prepare daily sign-in sheets and monitor to ensure that all patients are appropriately called and coordinate communication between patient and staff
  • Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families
  • Handle high volume of patients and internal/externals customers, and handle frequent changes, delay or unexpected events
  • Assists patients with the completion of appropriate forms and reviews for accuracy and completeness if needed
  • Accurately enters and updates demographic and payer data in practice management system.
  • Verification of coverage and payer eligibility
  • Demonstrates and maintains knowledge of practice management system
  • Maintains inventory of paperwork and ensures most up to date form is being used
  • Demonstrates adherence to and observes all safety policies and procedures, inclusive of infection control rules and regulations
  • Maintains and adheres to HIPAA, employee confidentiality, and privileged communications (patient, employee, and corporation)
  • Answers multiple phone lines; directs calls and takes messages as needed
  • Verifies patient information and insurance eligibility;
  • Directs patients to complete forms and processes patient-related paperwork
  • Informs provider’s assistant of no shows and cancellations
  • Performs various front-office duties in as assigned

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Possess excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Two (2) years experience in a medical setting
  • Ability to effectively interact with public and coworkers
  • Working knowledge of insurances: HMO/PPO
  • Ability to recognize and set priorities to accomplish established objectives

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • E-Clinical a plus
  • Bilingual a plus
