We are seeking individuals who have an interest in working in a specialist, fast-paced and learning-rich environment. The unit has strong working relationships with the broad multidisciplinary team

Children’s Ambulatory Care and B floor Surgical Day case Units are sister Surgical day case units within Nottingham Children’s Hospital. We are seeking a permanent band 5 to help with the expanding service

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a small team of nurses caring for children coming in for day case procedures/operations covering a variety of specialities, looking after pre and post op children

As a registered nurse at Nottingham Children’s Hospital you will be expected to maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.

You will motivate colleagues, champion children’s and family’s safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.

Nottingham Children’s Hospital will support you in your role and provide the relevant education, training and support for you to deliver high quality care.

Current level one NMC registration

Registered Children’s Nurse

Desirable criteria

Posession of mentor course or willingness to complete


Essential criteria

Experience of delivering nursing care to a group of patients

Supervision of non registered staff and students

Desirable criteria

Evidence of ability to mentor Demonstrate an involvement in link nurse, or project work

Communication skills

Essential criteria

Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrates basic IT skills

Awareness of own limitations and able to cummincate these
