Position Summary

Responsible for the maintenance of the Trauma Registry including data abstraction, report writing and patient tracking. Responsible for reporting to the Minnesota Department of Health (MOH) Trauma Registry, the National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB), and the Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP), and remaining in compliance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) standards and rules.

Qualifications:

License/Certification/Registration:

CAISS, CSTR certifications preferred.

Education:

Associate’s degree in healthcare or 2 years’ previous experience as a data registrar (trauma, tumor, cancer, surgery, etc.), or 2 years’ experience medical billing and coding experience required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of medical terminology required.
Trauma registrar experience preferred.
Completion of the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s Injury Scaling Course preferred; completion of this course and a trauma registry course within 12 months of hire will otherwise be required.
Knowledge of Trauma Registries, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and AIS coding preferred.
Computer literacy required including Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal) required.
Ability to work independently, as well as work with diverse groups to collaborate effectively.
